Come as you like." This sentence was an invitation I couldn't resist. My ex-wife wrote it when asked if it would be ok if I came to our meal in a more feminine way. But from the beginning. I had to travel to Hamburg on business and since I had an overnight stay I asked my ex-wife Bella if she would like to go out to dinner with me. Bella knew about Nicole before the wedding, but I honestly don't remember showing her more than that. We've definitely never been on the road together.
I know that a little over an hour from arrival to meeting at the restaurant was planned quite athletically. Especially since I couldn't travel as Nicole due to an appointment, not to mention Deutsche Bahn. Of course, the train lived up to its reputation and the already short time melted away slowly but surely. The crowning glory was the unmanned reception, where I stood for more than ten minutes before I could check in. When I was finally in my room, I still had 36 minutes until the agreed time – freshening up, changing, putting on make-up and leaving included. Luckily I was doing my make-up pretty well by now and so I was in the elevator shortly before seven. On the way across the station forecourt towards the hotel, I thought for a moment "oh, so many people, so bright". Whatever the reason, those thoughts came up again, luckily when I left the hotel they were gone. Completely naturally I hurried in my heels in the direction of the taxi rank. I had already announced my delay, but as a kind of proof that I would be there shortly, I sent Bella a photo from the taxi. Came back, she had almost the same cloth. This shouldn't be the last unusual "entertainment" of the evening.
We arranged to meet a Lebanese guy and I have to say it was a good decision. The food in the small restaurant was excellent, the service was also very good and I felt very comfortable and in good hands there. We enjoyed ourselves with various shared appetizers and a very tasty rose. Our topics of conversation ranged from our common past to our son and Nicole. I can't remember that we ever talked so extensively about Nicole and her life and emotional world. At some point Bella said we would talk about topics that she probably wouldn't have discussed with Christian and we both had to smile. The evening was so beautiful and entertaining that we were completely surprised when the host informed us that he would be closing soon. We walked to the bus stop together chatting even more. I took a taxi back to the hotel and, completely relaxed, bought water at the reception.
Despite the breakup, Bella and I have always gotten along well over the years, but this evening was outstanding. I'm still very happy to have asked the question and used Bella's answer. Another step on my way and I'm still very happy about this evening.
Next time we'll go back to Osnabrück, until then
Your Nicole
