It's been a while since my last post and it's not like nothing has happened, but somehow I haven't gotten around to writing. After visiting our friends, we went on vacation, which went differently than planned because we were in Israel on October 7th. My twin spent the two weeks there, even though various of my clothes were with him. After the vacation it was my time again. Except for the days when I went to the office, it's been mostly Nicole lately. When shopping, going to the hairdresser, and most days when working from home, at least a quick make-up was in order. The thing about the home office days is not entirely insignificant, since since Corona we have actually been doing all appointments using video. That means I've been doing more and more video calls with light makeup lately. There were also sweaters with large turtlenecks and colored scarves. Nobody has said anything about it yet, but I vary the intensity of the make-up depending on the appointments I have. Sometimes the camera has to stay off when you get a surprise call. When I think about everything that has happened in the last few months that I would never have imagined in my wildest dreams, or at least only in my wildest dreams, these video calls are definitely part of the latter.
The cheese and delicatessen shop here in Neu-Isenburg celebrated its 90th anniversary last year and to mark the occasion there was an event in the local festival hall. For an evening like this with around 500 guests, I would be chic in a dress and then go to the Italian restaurant next door where I live and then be completely relaxed - simply unbelievable. By the way, the owner family is also very nice and relaxed towards me.
With a view to Christmas and New Year's Eve, gel nails were available again at the end of November. So early because I wanted to let my somewhat brittle nails grow in peace so that I could have longer red nails for the holidays. In retrospect, they could have been longer. But it was a nice experience and certainly not the last time. Of course the first ones weren't red, but baby boomers in beige/white, so relatively neutral. That's how they are now again. I was like that even in the office and there were no comments about it either.
The days with Melanie's family over Christmas were very nice again and packing for two weeks without packing anything for Christian is just nice. On top of that, there was New Year's Eve, which we celebrated at home in Berlin with friends I've known since my training. It was our first meeting as Nicole and it was very relaxed, nothing different from previous meetings.
I am very excited about 2024. Will the steep curve from the second half of 2023 continue? What else will be new?
I hope you are also excited to see what happens next and stay loyal to me.
See you next time
Your Nicole
