Frankfurt

The first excursion was still far away in Basel. Rust wasn't much closer either, but the Europapark was already quite a deal in terms of the number of visitors. Rüdesheim was almost a suburb in comparison, especially since there are many colleagues who live in different parts of the Rheingau. But when I was looking for the "pre-program" for the 3rd girls' evening, to come up with the idea of making a trip right into the heart of my everyday life was a quasi-exponential increase, even for the rapid development of the last few years. Museum came to mind and there was an exhibition about Paula Modersohn-Becker at the Schirn that interested us both. Not only the visit of the museum would be a challenge, also the tour to the destination. Because this time it shouldn't be a rental car. Tram and S-Bahn would take us through Frankfurt and to Hanau.

Of course, a new excursion also meant a new outfit. I found a sweater with a houndstooth pattern for the dark blue pants, which I fell in love with immediately. To top it all, when my better half saw the sweater, she pulled out a coat from the closet that looked like it had been bought with the sweater and was too big for her. To complete it, there was a pair of new dark blue ankle boots – a woman can never have enough shoes.

I admit that the closer the time got, the more nervous I got. The route through Neu-Isenburg to the tram was very exhausting. However, after sitting in it for a while, I calmed down a bit. The mask certainly contributed to that. At least something positive about Corona. The longer the ride lasted, the calmer I became and so the situation at the Römer surprised me, but it didn't longer shock me. I checked the internet to see when the Christmas market in Frankfurt started and relaxed. It hadn't occurred to me that it would take more than two days to set it up. So we walked through the hustle and bustle to the Main, took a few pictures on the Eiserner Steg and then went to the Schirn. Mask there too, of course. Yes, there were visitors looking, but it was really fun to see the exhibition. Afterwards, we still had a lot of time, we drank a glass of wine in the newly built old town before we took the subway to the main train station and from there the S-Bahn to Hanau. All very calm and without any incidents.

The rest of the evening was, as always, just great. We chatted, had delicious food at Mashuq and as it was getting quite late we took a taxi back home.

Nicole had made her first trip to Frankfurt. There was no longer any reason to drive far away to enjoy the newfound freedom.

It will go on and definitely in shorter intervals than in the past.

See you soon,

your Nicole
