Chagall

In February it was time again. The appointment with Martina to visit the Schirn was made last year. The fact that there were admission slots, like in the best of Corona times, should have given me food for thought. But before the Schirn came the tram ride to Frankfurt – the first without a mask. What can I say? No longer a problem 😊 When we arrived at the Schirn, you could already see from the outside that the slots and extended opening hours had been introduced for a reason. Melanie and I went in and stood in line for the cloakroom. Apart from the fact that we wanted to hand in our jackets, thanks to some crazy people you are no longer allowed to take handbags into the exhibition. I had bad memories of queuing at Europapark, but now I can stand it well. Even walking back past the line didn't make me much more nervous.

After Martina had also arrived, we were able to go up to the exhibition. I didn't even notice that I was standing quite relaxed in the foyer until then. When entering the actual exhibition, there was still something like a small shock. I am certainly not exaggerating when I say that the people of the last three visits were present together. Tightly packed, you had to push past each other. You could only get through some gaps if you made eye contact or spoke directly to someone - not exactly what I love. But all I can say is that I moved freely in this crowd, even though I did catch a few looks. They seem to roll off me more and more. Only when I had to wait for my companions in one place for a long time and was exposed to the observation and the whispering of several visitors did I feel a bit uncomfortable.

I can assure you that at the beginning of last year I would have run away as soon as my pumps would have carried me. A certain tension is still there, but I was also able to switch off, get involved with the exhibition and enjoy it. So it was really fantastic and by no means a nightmare. Enjoy is a good transition.

We ended our meeting with an Italian restaurant just a few minutes away from the Schirn. This time really deeply relaxed - delicious food and delicious wine and very attentive and nice waiters. After accompanying Martina to the train station, we took a taxi home.

I once compared my self-confidence to muscles, so after this visit to the Schirn World Championship it would be fine 😊

See you soon

Nicole
