The plan gradually became more concrete. Thanks to Claudia, we even scheduled an appointment with a beautician for a professional make-up. The planning of clothing also became more concrete. I bought an airy blue blouse for an existing beige skirt. Airy was also a very good keyword here, because the closer the date got, the clearer it became that it was going to be warm - warmer than I would have liked.
Only trousers were suitable for the trip to Basel. But if so, it should be women's jeans and polo shirts. White chucks should complement the ensemble. In case it got cooler, my better half had a jacket and a cardigan. I prepared everything meticulously, made lists of what I would wear when and what utensils I would need or need to have in my handbag.
Finally the big day had come and I was extremely nervous. Despite this, I dared to go a step further. Instead of just sticking with the women's polo shirt, I dared to wear a bra with an appropriate insert underneath. I grabbed the lady's handbag with trembling fingers. Using Nicole's mobile phone and using her name, I ordered a taxi to the train station. I quickly put on my jacket, grabbed my trolley and handbag and left the apartment before I could change my mind. The taxi driver didn't say anything, I don't know if he was looking strange because I avoided eye contact.
I had arranged everything so nicely. Through the underpass in the middle of the platform and then up to my car, then I didn't have to walk the full length of the platform with all the people. Then came the advert that turned everything upside down – changed car sequence. So I made my way from E to B. By the time the train pulled in, I thought it was all behind me, but the advert was wrong – I had to go back to E through the crowds. I had arrived at my seat exhausted and annoyed, happy to sit alone. But as the journey progressed, I noticed two people a few rows away who seemed somehow familiar to me, and also in the row in front of me was a woman who I was increasingly sure was a colleague. I tried to pretend to be asleep for most of the rest of the train ride. Staying with the motto, if they see me, at least I don't have to see the reaction.
When I arrived in Basel, I was very happy to see Claudia and to have her by my side. But more of that and the rest of the day next time.
Bye for now
Your Nicole
