Basel, Jeans and Teppanyaki

In May the time had finally come. Almost two years after my first trip to Basel, I was back on the train. This time well-behaved and not cocky with everything female in the suitcase. I arrived in Basel around noon. As always, Claudia picked me up at the train station and then we went home. Changing clothes, putting on make-up and doing nails – I was extremely nervous. Nonetheless, we set out on our first tour around the house, taking pictures of me in the dress. I don't know what it was, but I felt more unsafe than the last time I was in City Center, even though there were far fewer people around. Maybe it was because the dress was shorter than the skirt from the last trip.

After a short break to change clothes, we went out again. We took a long walk through a nature reserve right outside the front door. There were a lot of nice opportunities to take photos, e.g. at the river or in the meadow. As an outfit, I had chosen jeans with flat boots and although the fuchsia-colored top was anything but inconspicuous, I relaxed visibly. It's difficult to describe, but somehow I felt safer in trousers, you could also describe it as less vulnerable, although I like to wear skirts or dresses for my life.

After the walk, Claudia and I spent the afternoon gossiping before we headed into town. Claudia had reserved a table at a teppanyaki restaurant. I don't want to say that I was calm myself, but in relation to noon and also to the last excursion, the way and the tram ride were a piece of cake. However, I was a bit shocked by our seats. In the middle of the restaurant, directly in front of one of the chefs, we sat on high chairs as if on display. It took a while before I relaxed a bit again. Even when it got more crowded and all the seats next to and around us were occupied, I increasingly managed to enjoy the evening for what it was. A cozy meal for two friends – gossip, laugh, having fun.

In a good mood we went back and went to bed early, because the next day we had to get up early. For me, of course, even earlier than for the others, because I needed a little longer to prepare.

Next time it's off to Europapark, the craziest and most beautiful thing I've ever experienced and done as Nicole.

Until then

Your Nicole
